Warner Bros are rebooting the ‘Tango & Cash’ franchise, with filming to begin in the first quarter of 2013. A big congrats to Maine’s Eric Guevin who has landed his second feature film gig, this time in the villian role previously played by Robert Z’Dar! The resemblance is uncanny!

Eric’s first feature film (capitalizing on his ESPN fame) was 2004′s Cliffhanger II.

The film was an unexpected box office success and exceeded studio expectations grossing over three times the opening night estimates of (at best) $2,000,000 and doing so despite a thumbs-down review from original star Sly Stallone. The film finished third in its opening weekend, grossing $12,540,000.  It eventually grossed far more than Over The Top which ironically Guevin was signed to star in before studios decided Stallone had more natural ability for the role.   Total U.S. box office gross receipts for Cliffhanger II were $70,269,899 while the international gross stands at $85,449,806 making for a total worldwide gross of $155,721,132. Filming for the movie took place in the rocky White Mountains in Lincoln, NH, not far from Guevin’s hometown in Buxton, ME. VHS and DVD copies of the film are very rare (and extremely valuable) due to studio distribution lawsuits which limited its home video release.
