2007
We hope
that everyone's Holidays were good and we would like to wish everyone a Happy
& Healthy New Year. Hopefully 2008
will be even better than 2007. More tournaments, more titles, more friends.
Gary
Roberts from Arm TV has posted an article on the Arm TV site and also on the
Northeast Board about the lack of growth of Arm TV. It seems that growth has slowed down
considerably and he is having trouble doing what he planned on doing. I have heard a lot of pro's
and con's on this subject.
Some like the interviews and some just want to see the
videos of tournaments. If it will be
easier and less work for Gary
maybe he should just post the videos for now and wait till things get better
for the rest. I know the economy right
now is not great, a lot of people have to choose
between medical insurance, heat or food.
A lot of companies have closed or laid off or
just cut back everyone's hours. I like
Arm TV myself but I think the cost is a little high right now, maybe Gary
could go back and check to see if growth slowed down when he made the last raise to
belong. I know that Mike West has a lot
of videos on his site for free and also Armsport
Videos has a huge amount of tournaments for you to view and he charges
nothing. My membership for Arm TV has run out and I
find myself going to Armsport Videos now to watch
tournaments. Maybe everyone should
e-mail Gary
and let him know how they feel about this.
I have
received less than 50 ballots back for Armwrestler of
the Year. I know that stamps went up but
not that much. This choice is yours to
make but you must return your ballot for it to count.
The Points
Championship came down to the last event of the year in NH on December 8th. The winner by one point was Badger Drewes, 2nd place was Kurt Howgate and 3rd
went to Harry Bean.
Congratulations to Badger who was the IAF Armwrestler of the Year last year. Congratulations also to Kurt and Harry for a
good close competition. Remember you
must be a member of the IAF to receive points at any IAF Sanctioned event. Membership is only $12.00 per year. Anyone wishing to join can go to the IAF site
or the Maine
site and get an application or you could e-mail me and I will send you one (iaf1@comcast.net ).
A complete
list of upcoming
events and full results can be found on the Northeast Board:
http://northeastboard.com and also on the IAF site: http://iaf1.homestead.com/tourney.html and the USAF site : http://armwrestling.com We will continue to post local events and
results in the monthly newsletter as well.
We need all meet directors to send in the results as soon as possible so
that they can be posted. Also we need
you to send us the top 4 finishers as points are awarded for 1st to
4th place. We have compiled
a master mailing list for our directors to use and all we ask is that they send
us any new names they receive at their events and also any flyers that come
back for wrong address where someone has moved. We have a complete list for the Northeast,
the Southeast, Central East and the USA
list for larger events. We just need
help keeping it accurate. If you know of
anyone that might like to be added send me their info: Name, Address, City,
State, Zip, Phone number.
